Who first patterned the fire’s dance?
Each flickering fall captures your glance
Not simple molecules as some like to say
No way such beauty could be randomly displayed
The diaphanous patterns were crafted by loving hands
It was a thoughtful Creator who designed fire’s dance
Who painted the sunset in the sky?
No paintbrush I know could reach that high
Swirls of pink, purple, red, and gold
Did not come by chance as I’ve been told
Rather a masterful God with an artist’s eye
Painted those colors in the sky
Who gave the mockingbird a voice to sing?
A voice to herald the new morning
There is no such thing as one-size-fits-all
When it comes to the notes in each bird call
Only a skilled composer could ever bring
Musical harmony to the song His birds sing
Who dressed the trees in their colored robes?
Crimson leaves form regal clothes
Each leaf different, yet perfectly shaped
Impossible to spontaneously generate
Only the expert Tailor knows how to sew
Individual leaves into elegant robes
Who graced the mind with intelligent thought?
Chance would have had us only think as we’re taught
Our minds did not come by an impersonal force
They were not made from an unknowable source
Our Father in heaven carefully wrought
The vital facet of intelligent thought

As an army advances, the sounds of clanking metal, galloping horses, rolling chariots, and fierce battle cries normally fill the air. However, when Jehoshaphat and the Israelite army marched to battle in 2 Chronicles 20, the sound of singing filled the air.
Jehoshaphat, when learning of the advancement of a vast army against him, helplessly knelt before the Lord. God encouraged him by saying, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15 NIV)
He then instructed Jehoshaphat with a battle plan. “You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you.” (2 Chronicles 20:17 NIV) The next day, Israel marched into battle with the praises of the Lord on their lips, trusting that He would rescue them.
As they praised God, they watched the enemy defeated before them. God kept His promise, and Israel saw God’s deliverance as they praised Him in the midst of their battle.
Do you face a vast army this week, one that you cannot conquer on your own? God makes the same promise to you that He made to the Israelites. Let Him be in control, trust Him, and fill your front lines with praise to your Loving Father. As you enter the battle with praise on your lips, you will see God’s mighty deliverance.
