Fingerprints of God

Fingerprints of God

by Steven Curtis Chapman

Lryics

I can see the tears filling Your eyes
And I know where they’re coming from
They’re coming from a heart that’s broken in two
By what you don’t see
The person in the mirror
Doesn’t look like the magazine
Oh, but when I look at you it’s clear to me that…

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it’s true
You’re a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you’re covered with the fingerprints of God

Never has there been and never again
Will there be another you
Fashioned by God’s hand
And perfectly planned
To be just who you are
And what He’s been creating
Since the first beat of your heart
Is a living breathing priceless work of art and…

Just look at you
You’re a wonder in the making
Oh, and God’s not through, no
In fact, He’s just getting started and…

LITTLE GIRL FOURTEEN FLIPPING THROUGH A MAGAZINE
SAYS SHE WANTS TO LOOK THAT WAY
BUT HER HAIR ISN’T STRAIGHT HER BODY ISN’T FAKE
AND SHE’S ALWAYS FELT OVERWEIGHT

WELL LITTLE GIRL FOURTEEN I WISH THAT YOU COULD SEE
THAT BEAUTY IS WITHIN YOUR HEART
AND YOU WERE MADE WITH SUCH CARE YOUR SKIN YOUR BODY AND YOUR HAIR
ARE PERFECT JUST THE WAY THEY ARE

THERE COULD NEVER BE A MORE BEAUTIFUL YOU
DON’T BUY THE LIES DISGUISES AND HOOPS THEY MAKE YOU JUMP THROUGH
YOU WERE MADE TO FILL A PURPOSE THAT ONLY YOU COULD DO
SO THERE COULD NEVER BE A MORE BEAUTIFUL YOU

LITTLE GIRL TWENTY-ONE THE THINGS THAT YOU’VE ALREADY DONE
ANYTHING TO GET AHEAD
AND YOU SAY YOU’VE GOT A MAN BUT HE’S GOT ANOTHER PLAN
ONLY WANTS WHAT YOU WILL DO INSTEAD

WELL LITTLE GIRL TWENTY-ONE YOU NEVER THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD COME
YOU STARVE YOURSELF TO PLAY THE PART
BUT I CAN PROMISE YOU THERE’S A MAN WHOSE LOVE IS TRUE
AND HE’LL TREAT YOU LIKE THE JEWEL YOU ARE

SO TURN AROUND YOU’RE NOT TOO FAR
TO BACK AWAY BE WHO YOU ARE
TO CHANGE YOUR PATH GO ANOTHER WAY
IT’S NOT TOO LATE YOU CAN BE SAVED
IF YOU FEEL DEPRESSED WITH PAST REGRETS
THE SHAMEFUL NIGHTS HOPE TO FORGETS
CAN DISAPPEAR THEY CAN ALL BE WASHED AWAY
BY THE ONE WHO’S STRONG CAN RIGHT YOUR WRONGS
CAN RID YOUR FEARS DRY ALL YOUR TEARS
AND CHANGE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THIS BIG WORLD
HE WILL TAKE YOUR DARK DISTORTED VIEW
AND WITH HIS LIGHT HE WILL SHOW YOU TRUTH
AND AGAIN YOU’LL SEE THROUGH THE EYES OF A LITTLE GIRL

Fracturing the Formula – Plugged In

From Focus on the Family’s PLUGGED IN

READ ABOUT…standing your ground in a world that demands you follow its ways…not HIS ways. In this candid interview with actress Candace Cameron Bure, music artist, Rebecca St. James and author/speaker Andrea Stephens, you’ll see how God blesses those who stand firm in His ways. From Focus on the Family and Plugged in…Fracturing the Formula

Candace Cameron Bure is a former Full House star and current cast member of the ABC Family series Make It or Break It. Andrea Stephens is an author, speaker and former model. Rebecca St. James is an actress, author and Dove award-winning singer/songwriter. All three women are not only talented, successful and gracious entertainers, they’re women who decided not to play Hollywood’s game by Hollywood’s rules. All three have weathered the pitfalls of fame and come out on the other side with more wisdom than whiplash. I spoke to each (individually) to find out what their “formula” was, what they think of the industry they’ve been a part of and what they would tell teens who want to go into the business without suffering the star-studded ailment now known as Britnification. …read more

Meet our Friends at Clash Entertainment

One of the greatest things about launching new websites is finding terrific friends who share the same passions. We’re thrilled to introduce to you some of our friends and their site, Clash Entertainment ( www.clashentertainment.com)

Meet Ken Raney and Clash Entertainment. It speaks for itself.

Clash Entertainment, Inc. announces clashentertainment.com – a new entertainment/portal website for Christian teenagers!

July 1, 2010 – Clash Entertainment, Inc. is pleased to introduce clashentertainment.com! ClashEntertainment.com is an entertainment/portal website designed to be so rich and deep with entertaining media, that teens will want to visit, and stay for sustained periods of time. The site is updated daily with fresh content that includes news, reviews, and interviews in the fields of music, movies, books, games, comics, sports, career information, and more. There also is a huge list of links to other Christian websites of interest to teens.

To encourage interactivity and participation by teens, an exciting feature is the “MyLife” section which allows teens to let the world know about their life: what they are watching, reading, doing, thinking, prayer requests, pose questions, encourage others, etc. Also, visitors can comment on any article for even more interactivity.

The site has been in operation for over 5 months, and there are thousands of items that have been loaded – making the site very rich in content to keep visitors interested for hours and hours.

“A site like this offers much to the Christian community,” says Ken Raney, president of Clash. “Teens will have access to entertaining, enlightening, and even edifying media; Christian creatives will have an outlet to use their gifts for the Lord and His Kingdom; and Christian publishers will now have access to the teen market, something that has been very difficult in the past.”

“We have a passion for Christian teens,” said Raney. “We want to see to it that they have available to them entertaining media that doesn’t undermine their faith. The Christian teen is the most under-served demographic in media. We believe the Lord has led us to begin to fill that gap. We also believe that soon the window of opportunity will be flung wide open and we will see an explosion of excellent entertainment media for teens.”

The name Clash comes from Ephesians 6:12,

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (NLT)

iPod Attack

Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.” (Psalm 86:11 KJV) “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 NIV)

I was walking for therapy after a stressful day—only today, the therapy backfired.

Three or four “Debbie downers” in a row floated from my iPod; a maniacal little device. They were fantastic songs, but were hitting below the belt.

My musical world plunged into a melancholy state and my emotions went haywire. I base lots of decisions on my momentary feelings. Some choices turn out okay; some I regret.

When I allow my emotions to be manipulated, I end up feeling tossed around like a hurricane. In a world of emotional stimulation, how can I possibly avoid the stupid decisions?

The answer is truth. And don’t get me wrong: music, movies, and books can all contain things that are true. Emotions aren’t bad either, but they don’t consistently lead us to truth. And when I say “truth,” I mean the one with the capital “T.”

God’s Truth in his Bible is solid. It’s what He gave us to hold onto when our emotions are telling us to feel five different things at once. His Word never changes, though our thoughts may change.

Isn’t it reassuring to know that we have this source of ultimate Truth when life is unsure? Fill your head—and especially your heart—with real things, true things. Be purposeful about it, so you can fight with your Truth if you need to.

Our emotions can change with what we’re listening to at the moment. I’ve made some bad decisions based on music-initiated emotions. But I’ve learned that when I’m feeling a little crazy, I can go to God’s Word for reality. His Truth has always steers me straight. When my iPod attacks again, this time I’ll be prepared.

Two Steps Forward—One Life Back

“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14 NIV)
“Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?” (James 3:11 NIV)

smashed

“Robby! What are you doing?” Bretta yelled at her brother as she grabbed his iPod from his hand.

“Get off me, Bretta. You’re gonna’ get hurt.” Robby pushed his sister away as he smashed his CD’s with a hammer. Robby’s dad ran into his room.

“What are you doing, Robby?” His dad grabbed the hammer.

“All this non-Christian music I still like reminds me of how angry I was before I became a Christian. Every time I go two steps forward with the Lord, I go one life back when I listen to it. I see pictures of where I was when I listened to certain songs. Like being back there again—like I was the old me.”

“Well, I don’t have a problem with listening to secular music. I have lots of Christian music too.” Bretta huffed out of Robby’s room.

“Robby, sometimes listening to music can do that. You have to find a balance or just listen to Christian bands. There is a Christian band for every style of music. Come on, I’ll help you get this mess picked up.” His dad began putting pieces in the trash can.

“Thanks, Dad. Next time I go two steps forward, I’ll be careful not to go a whole life back!”

Just a little of the old life can add salt to fresh water. Turning back could stop you in your tracks!
